TaskEasy Volunteers 14 hours to Improve Community Garden
The startup volunteer Journey
It all started with a simple idea about two months ago; four of us wanted to connect with a local organization and help improve our community further than supporting local contractors by helping to grow their businesses. We decided to arrange a volunteer day in partnership with the city. When we were encouraged to invite more people outside our department, the number of people interested in joining us quickly increased. Preparing for the afternoon outing at TaskEasy was really exciting and on November 13th, 2015, the TaskEasy team came together on a cool but sunny Friday afternoon. Our team included employees from several departments including Marketing, Operations, and Development. They got their hands dirty at the Washington Square Community Gardens in front of the city building in Salt Lake City. Watch our journey in this short clip:
Improving the Garden
We are so happy that both TaskEasy (a tech startup in Utah) and our volunteers were on board with the idea because it allowed us to provide a service while putting in some hard work. We were able to weed, prune, learn about different water saving plants we can harvest at home, in addition to learning some Salt Lake City history. With all 12 of us working together for over an hour, we were able to donate 14 hours of service to the city accounting for $322 worth of service. The city will now be able to dedicate those funds to more impactful initiatives. Strangely enough, at the end of the trip, we all realized we actually had a lot of fun, despite all the work! Who knew?
We hope you enjoyed learning about our volunteering adventures in the community. There are so many opportunities out there for us to get involved, meet other conscious minded people, and make an impact locally. Whether it’s supporting your local contractors or joining our volunteer team and fun company culture, you can make a difference too!
