A TaskEasy Employee Shares Her Experience with Cancer
Yesterday was World Cancer Day: a day in which people around the world honor and remember the loved ones they’ve lost to cancer. It’s also a day to raise awareness of cancer, and encourage its prevention, detection, and treatment.
Thank you to Jen T., an incredible TaskEasy employee, for bravely sharing how cancer has affected her family:
My grandma and mom both passed away from cancer a year apart from each other. My grandma was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer in June of 2002 and passed away from it in July of 2002.
That month spent with her was probably the best in our lives. My mom was diagnosed with cancer in May of 2003 and she passed away from pneumonia in August of 2003. She had a brain tumor that was paralyzing the right side of her body, as well as cancer on various organs (heart, spleen, kidneys to name a few). Since we lost her mom just a year before, we really felt the effects of this horrible disease.
My family has grown closer than ever, Life has a way of appearing in a different light when you know your time with a loved one is limited. There are no more “I’ll do that later” or “I’ll come over and talk to you tomorrow”. We cherish the time we have together and never take anything for granted. The old saying “Live today as if was your last” really is true because tomorrow is never a guarantee.
