As an independent contractor, you are responsible for withholding taxes from your income. TaskEasy does not withhold taxes for you, which means you are required to fill out a W-9 to determine if your payments are subject to IRS form 1099-MISC reporting. A W-9 ensures we have your Taxpayer Identification Number and Certification so we can send you an accurate 1099-MISC at the end of the year. In this article, we will walk you through how to find your W-9 form and fill it out in the online dashboard.

Heads up: this feature is only available in your online dashboard. You cannot fill out your W-9 in the TaskEasy for Contractors App.

The first and last name should be as it shows on the owner's tax return

You can find a list of exemption codes on page 3 of the 'Instructions for the Requester of Form W-9'

Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN)For individuals/sole proprietors this is usually your social security number. For other entities, it is your employer identification number (EIN). If you do not have a Tax Identification Number, refer to the section 'How to get a TIN' on the IRS website.
